Creatine is a substance produced naturally by the body, which is stored primarily in the muscles and plays an important role in the rapid supply of energy to the cells. The body can produce creatine itself from the amino acids arginine, glycine and methionine. Creatine is also obtained from food sources such as meat and fish. In the muscles, creatine is predominantly stored as creatine phosphate, which acts as a rapidly available energy reserve and supports the rapid regeneration of ATP – the most important direct source of energy for muscle cells. This makes creatine particularly important during short, intense periods of exertion, such as strength training, sprinting or interval training.
Creatine supplementation can increase creatine stores in the muscles and support physical performance during short, intense exertion. This is why creatine is of particular interest in sport, although it is also used outside of training. It also plays a role in the brain’s energy metabolism and is therefore increasingly being studied in relation to mental performance. Creatine has been extensively researched and is one of the most thoroughly investigated substances in sport. For our products, we also ensure the use of high-quality creatine raw materials and a clear, simple composition wherever possible, so as to enable a targeted and reliable supply.
