Alpha-linolenic acid (α-linolenic acid)

Alpha-linolenic acid, often just called linolenic acid, is a triple unsaturated fatty acid of the group of so-called omega-3 fatty acids, which play a major role in a healthy diet. Alpha-linolenic acid is found as an ester chemically bound in many triglycerides, which are the main component of natural fats and oils. The triglycerides of various naturally derived vegetable oils are rich in linolenic acid residues. Well known are e.g. chia oil, linseed oil or hemp oil
