Helping people to help themselves: Moringa for Benin
In Benin, kingnature supports a moringa farm that produces moringa for the local market and provides malnourished children with free moringa. You can support this project with a donation!
François Akouta is a lawyer, commercial judge and member of the national parliament of Benin. At the same time, he set up a moringa farm that primarily produces for the local market. Over the years, a farm with jobs and training opportunities for the local population has been established near the coastal town of Cotonou. Thanks to Akouta’s great and trustworthy commitment, the agricultural project is now largely self-supporting.
The fast-growing Moringa tree is rich in vitamins, proteins and minerals. Almost everything on the plant is edible. Because of these properties, it is ideally suited to improving the nutritional situation in this West African country. As in many parts of the world, Benin also suffers from deficiencies, mainly due to an unbalanced diet. In recent years, several hectares of moringa trees have been planted, a processing building built, a solar-powered drying plant installed and the moringa powder made ready for the local market.
Moringa for malnourished children
François Akouta has now expanded his sphere of action and launched a project for the poorest families in his region. His aim is to distribute the nutritious moringa powder to malnourished children free of charge. Regular distribution campaigns have been taking place since 2020. Akouta works with an organization called HUNGER FREE WORLD, which supports around 200 families in need. However, distributing moringa is not enough: the families are also trained in how to grow and use moringa themselves. For these activities, kingnature provides the moringa free of charge. Francois Akouta organizes the distribution campaigns himself and earns nothing in the process.
You too can support this Moringa project in Benin!
We at kingnature are very happy to support this meaningful project. Would you also like to help? In this way, Moringa can be distributed to even more families with malnourished children and at the same time they can benefit from training courses in which they learn how to grow the plant themselves and thus improve their nutritional situation! 100% of the money donated goes towards the distribution and training campaigns in Benin.
